Library Aide (50% time position)

The Minnesota Legislative Reference Library is looking for a person to work half-time as a library aide. The position is for 20 hours per week with some Saturday hours. The annual salary is $20,366 ($19.51 per hour). This position includes prorated vacation, sick leave, retirement, and insurance benefits.

Qualifications:

Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel, and computer/network file structures desired. Candidates should have good social skills and be able to interact with a wide range of patrons. Attention to detail is very important. .

Business Manager (75% time position)

The Minnesota Legislative Reference Library seeks a detail-oriented person to assist in an administrative capacity by managing the business functions of the Library with special emphasis on providing advice and implementation of budget, payroll, and personnel services in a professional, non-partisan and politically neutral manner.

About the Legislative Reference Library:

The Minnesota Legislative Reference Library serves the Legislature and the citizens of Minnesota by ensuring access to essential information resources that support the legislative process and promote the understanding of state government. The Library is committed to maintaining a print and electronic collection of current and historical materials to support effective public policy development, and to document the work of the Minnesota Legislature.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of one year of office administrative/management experience or an associate degree plus three years office administrative/management experience.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, accounting and record-keeping.
  • Knowledge of personnel procedures and record-keeping.
  • Extensive knowledge of personal computers, including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to write business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with an ability to manage overlapping projects simultaneously.

Desired Qualifications and Characteristics:

  • Familiar with state accounting systems and codes.
  • Experience dealing with state contracts, maintenance contracts, and product and software vendors.
  • Familiar with records retention regulations and procedures.
  • Understanding of the legislative process, the relationships among offices within the Legislature, and policies and practices of the Legislature.

This is a 75%-time, nonpartisan position with benefits.

Minimum salary is $45,738 for a 30-hour work week.
