He was an unsuccessful candidate for the Minnesota Senate in the 1950 election. He was involved in a contested election with Louis A. Murray in that election. Neither of them were seated until the Minnesota Senate decided that Louis A. Murray was entitled to the seat.

His gravestone is in Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston, Polk County, Minnesota, United States of America.
